Combining performance, comfort, and versatility for your horse, the Boxter Hybrid Mack is designed to withstand variable weather conditions while ensuring your horse stays dry across their back, comfortable in fluctuating temperatures, and well-protected.

Featuring a sporty softshell upper which is very waterproof and incredibly breathable, that includes a laminated short-pile fleece lining. This little bit of fleece lining prevents your horse's back getting cold when there has been rain, while the softshell keeps them dry it can sit on them and feel a bit cold so the fleece avoids that without losing the breathability. Allowing your horse great protection and comfort in a wide variety of weather. Bear in mind this does mean it's unlike standard turnout fabric and is not built for strength.

The Boxter Hybrid Mack Turnout is a super soft fabric with mesh panels and is engineered with your horse’s comfort and fit in mind, ensuring a secure and versatile experience all year round. 

  • Waterproof & Breathable Softshell Upper: The technical softshell fabric is engineered to provide waterproof protection while remaining breathable. This allows your horse to stay dry and comfortable, no matter the weather conditions.
  • Laminated Fleece Lining: The soft, laminated fleece lining ensures maximum comfort next to your horse’s coat. It enhances the turnout’s comfort level without adding bulk or unnecessary warmth, making it ideal for wear through fluctuating seasonal changes.
  • Knit Mesh Panels: Strategically placed soft knit mesh panels along the body provide optimal breathability, allowing air circulation to prevent overheating and ensure comfort.
  • Detachable Neck Cover: The detachable neck cover offers customizable protection, giving you the flexibility to adapt to changing weather conditions. Easy to attach and remove, it ensures your horse stays comfortable in varying climates.
  • Generously Large Tail Flap: Designed with a large, generously sized tail flap for extra coverage and protection.
  • Boxter Dart Design: The exclusive design-protected Boxter Dart provides a superior fit, contouring to your horse’s shape for enhanced comfort and mobility. This innovative feature ensures the turnout rug moves with your horse at all times.
  • Field Safe Front Closure: Leader Equine’s unique, design-protected Field Safe Front Closure offers an ergonomic and secure fastening system. 3 steps for your horse’s comfort and safety, the bib next to their chest, two straight front clips for security in the middle and finally the double overlock Velcro in front to ensure nothing catches on fencing or haynets.
  • Reflective strips for added visibility in low-light conditions, improving safety for your horse when turned out in early mornings or evenings, or ease of finding them with a torch when doing a night check!
  • Due to the sporty fabric, it is not built to withstand scratching on trees or playfighting/bites from other horses. 
  • Softshell Fabric with polyester knit mesh. Machine washable for easy cleaning.
  • Wash at low temperatures (below 30°C/86°F) to preserve the waterproofing. Ideally just wash once a season.
  • Do not bleach or tumble dry. Line dry for best results, in the shade. When not in use please store in a dry, dark ventilated container/area.

Love the Hybrid Mack. It’s the ideal rug for our warm winter yet having rainy days. And especially for my mare who runs warm the mesh sides help to keep her cool on the warm days whilst the fleece under the water proofing keeps her warm. I think she likes it too as the rainsheet can be a little warm during the daytime. It’s a little snugger fitting than the rainsheet as she has a big chest/ neck but the Boxter pleat allows her shoulders room to move so overall am very happy with it. And it’s lasted 2 weeks without any tears. ☺️. She must like it. Thanks LE. A great rug for autumn winter and spring. Very versatile. My friend saw it and bought one this week as well for her chunky mare. :)

Love this rug. Its been on my wish list since last winter so I was excited to finally be ordering one. Fits beautifully and its nice and light in weight. It doesn’t get overly cold were i am but i need something to keep sandflies off and be water proof as we get heaps of heavy fog most nights. Added bonus of not having leg straps as she hates them. I will be buying another one when i can for my gelding.

This would have to be one of my most favorite rugs ever. Such a staple rug for Spring, Autumn and those cold summers nights. My boy runs hot and with this rug I can be sure he will stay warm and dry where it’s important and not overheat. When we have to use a rug, then I love this rug because it is so light! I hate how some rugs are really heavy, especially when wet...this can really affect aged horses and ponies as well as creating a situation where any horse, however fit, is having to carry something heavy around all day. I also love the air ventilation, allowing the horses and ponies who either run hot, or find temperature regulation difficult, to stay cool. Great work LE team!

Awesome rug great for Queensland coming into winter as it can still be warm but evenings showery and quite cool. My only problem is the neck rug on my Percheron X is too short so it sucks back and is sort of too tight close to the chest fixings so I mostly use it without the neck part but still a great rug.

Was stoked to try this as a cheaper alternative to the HW version. After reading reviews saying it was true to size, I stuck with 6ft knowing that I don't have to size up like I do for HW rugs. I was disappointed to find it was pretty snug across the chest and over the wither, and the darts over her bum made it a narrow fit. The wipe clean tail cord was shorter than HW one, but I have swapped them so it's not exaggerating the snug fit and will make do. Thankfully the stretchy material redeems the fit (not sure if this was the intention) but would suggest sizing up. Given the snug fit, I'm conscious how warm they might get as this was designed for warmer, but wet conditions. I would have liked a looser fit for this reason, though it did feel well made and the material felt high quality, so time will tell.

This has been my go to for the last few months. Ideal for the Irish climate. My mare is hairy and can overheat easily, she also takes ages to dry. Her back is always warm and the airated side panels stop overheating. The front closure system is excellent.

Love the quality of materials from first impression. I am just disappointed with the comfort of buckles against the horses chest when their head is down eating. The bib is super thin and if you slide your hand flat behind the bib, those buckles really dig in which would be super uncomfortable for the horse. If the bib had some quality padding it would be a pretty perfect rug and then worth the price tag imo.
