The Mio Fly Rug is a great value rug from Horseware, perfect for the summer months to keep those pesky bugs at bay. Made from soft and lightweight knitted polyester mesh, with double classic front closures and an integrated fixed neck rug which provides good length and depth for coverage and protection.
As the Amigo Mio Fly Rug is so lightweight and breathable, you won't have to worry about your horse overheating or getting uncomfortable should the weather get too hot. The Mio Fly Rug will still allow great airflow around your horse's body.

  • Soft knitted polyester mesh, with double classic front closures and front leg arch for freedom of movement
  • Fixed neck rug but provides good length and depth for coverage and protection
  • Reinforcement strips that help maintain structure of neck cover
  • cross surcingles
  • Fillet string for under the tail behind hindlegs and a long tail flap to finish it off
  • Not for rug rippers or hard conditions
  • Fly mask not included

Fit is true to size. Purchased for my chestnut mini pony who gets attacked by bot flies. The neck is a bit big coming over her ears but I just tuck it in. Doesn’t move around with the belly straps and she doesn’t over heat.

This is about my thirs Mio rug (Bug rug) purchase. For the previous horse (stock horse/Connemara) I did find it necessary to insert a shoulder dart, but it was then such a good fit he did not ever damage it at all and it has now gone back to the breeder with him! The new horse in my life is a Standardbred and the new rug fit him perfectly, he hates!!! any insect landing on his skin so the rug is perfect. I would be interested if you know of any insecticide suitable to put on the rest of his exposed body, his head I have a fly mask for, but the belly and legs need a repellant and I have yet to find one which actually repels flys, mosquitos, etc Hoping you can assist, I will call in at your Equitana stand to catch up also.
