Officially an award-winning turnout, the Boxter Turnout by Leader Equine is the 2024 Equitana Business Awards Horse Innovation Category winner! 

Now in our specific Pony Fit in sizes 4'3 to 5'3. 

Our Boxter Turnouts were designed for your horse's comfort as the priority. We wanted to consider their true freedom to graze, freedom to move as well as their safety in the paddock, and ensure waterproof, robust and breathable fabric again for their comfort and protection. 

*Note - we have used triple surcingles on the Boxter Pony 50g. Due to the wide-ranging shapes and builds of ponies, some may find the middle one will be too short. If that's the case for your pony you can either trim the surcingle off at the finished stitch line and the rug will function perfectly well with two cross surcingles. Always feel welcome to take photos and email us with your experiences. 

Freedom to graze for us meant taking pressure away from under the neck, freedom to move meant looking at how the shoulder/scapula of the horse truly moves and safety in the paddock meant a front closure that was safe and secure in terms of fit while also being safe from catching on haynets or some types of fencing. 

Both our Boxter Dart and our Field Safe Front Closure have been approved with design protections for being unique in the world and purposeful in their intention. 

Of course, if we are designing a rug for the comfort of your horse, it is not complete without being waterproof and breathable with a rating of 10,000/10,000mm, durable with its 1200D polyester fabric, and versatile with it's liner compatibility, detachable neck cover included and even the extra little detail of a lifted design of the attachments for the neck cover to allow more give when the horse is reaching down reducing friction on the horse's mane, without affecting the fit or movement of the rug itself.

  • Boxter Dart - design-protected feature for true freedom of movement & fit
  • Field Safe Front Closure - design protected feature for secure safe front closure
  • Waterproof rated 10,000mm & Breathable 1200D Polyester with 50g thermobonded fibrefill which is a superb weight for most ponies and giving you flexibility across several seasons.
  • Detachable Neck Cover with 50g thermobonded fibrefill (neck cover uses a lifted design of the attachments to allow more give when grazing for the neck cover to move over the mane and reduce friction on the hair).
  • Triple Cross Surcingles under the belly for a secure fit and self-righting capability after a roll! Always cross the straps that are sewn on the rug at an angle, the middle strap goes straight across. 
  • XL Tail Flap giving plenty of protection for the bum while being lightweight to allow freedom of the tail to move. Includes strap on tail flap to pull tail through for very windy areas. Use only if really needed.
  • Wipe-Clean Elasticated Tail Cord.
  • Reflective strips front and back for ease of visibility. 
  • Anti-static and Anti-bacterial 210T inner lining.

Excellent pony fit and it has lived through many pony rolly pollys

I have two brumbies, one is 12’3HH stocky broad shoulders, thick neck and short round body. Always a 5’3rug. The second is 13.3HH very narrow shoulders, skinny neck and long athletic body. Fits best to a 5’3 neckline but 5’6 for body length. If I can’t custom make 5’3’ neck/shoulder and 5’6 body, I get a 5’6 and add darts to the shoulders. I was unable to organise darts at the moment so went with 5’3 for both, sacrificing length over shoulder fit for the taller brumby. He is the one with two white socks in the photos, and you can see the length and tail flap are perfect despite his long body. My littler guy has extra length and bottom coverage being short but I am confident to say both body sizes and types are great in a 5’3 if that helps anyone in the same predicament. The front fastening is fantastic and easy!! No sharp buckles! The neck rug has lots of room to move which I love and the liner is fantastic for extra warmth making the rug more versatile in Melbournes weather!! I have not bought this brand before but will definitely buy again and again! Very impressive!! Thank you!!!

I have an elderly Irish donkey I need to keep warm and dry in winter and was so pleased when the LE Boxter Pony rug was released. Dolly (donkey) can be a bit cranky but she has clearly been happy with her new rug which has been great during a pretty cold and wet Victorian winter. Fit and quality great as always with the LE Boxter range!

This is my Shetland, Possum with a 4'9". I think the front closure is safer and more comfortable for the horses and it’s quick once you’ve tried it a couple of times. Quality rug and doesn’t move once on. The only reason for not giving 5 stars was the middle belly strap almost reached but didn’t quite do up. Rug stays in place with other two however I purchased a belly strap extender separately and that does the trick.

Really nice fit around neck for 11.2hh Welsh Mountain Pony. Always hard to get rugs that fit the little necks but this is great, no slipping around butt either. 50g is perfect too just to keep wind and wet away from old girl. Very happy

Blimey Brilliant! Fits my 8 month like glove! I tried two different well known brands here in NZ. Alas cheaper rugs but buy the time I brought 2 that were absolutely terrible fits, I should have just spent a bit more and got one that fits perfectly! The others sat really low on her shoulder at the front, one she wouldn't walk in as felt so restricted. The pony boxter was just perfect in everyway! Love the front closure for her, with slow feeder hay nets in the barn its a good safety feature. She will grow up with LE Boxter rugs! 😍
