My horse has been wearing this rug for a couple weeks now. She is in a shared 60 acre paddock with 8 other horses and it hasn't ripped yet so durability seems to be decent. The velcro bit at the front isn't very strong and has been pulled apart a few times. My horse got rubs on one shoulder. Also the belly straps do not loosen enough. My horse is a light breed and this spring as she has a slight belly (not much), the straps are on the largest. If you have a chunky breed definitely go up a side. Also there doesn't seem to be as much movement in the shoulders as I would like. Overall happy with my purchase. But for sure go up a size as they size small.
