FAQ's

How do I choose the right rug for my horse?

The right rug is very dependent on your horse’s individual needs, the weather, and your property set up.

We offer lightweight, medium, and heavyweight options from Horseware Ireland and Leader Equine each designed for comfort and durability. We find the 0-100g turnouts with liner compatibility are a great option if you'd like to be able to use one rug and adjust the level of warmth as required throughout the seasons.

If you’re unsure and would like some guidance reach out via hello@leaderequine.com.au

Do your rugs have leg straps?

None of the rugs we sell come with leg straps. Horseware® Ireland have decades of experience, and more recently our own Leader Equine range show leg straps are not needed when our unique designs keep the rugs secure and where they should be without being restrictive. We find horses are more comfortable this way.

Can you explain all of the different front closures?

Sure! Across the Horseware® Ireland and Leader Equine range there are a number of unique front closures to choose from. We'll explain below.

V-front (Horseware®): Uses V-front closure technology, is a series of clips which frees the shoulder and aids in reducing pressure.

Disc front (Horseware®): Lightweight, flexible, and eliminates bulk. Secured with velcro.

Classic front closure: Secure, simple, traditional.

Leader Equine Field Safe front closure: Our award-winning, design-protected closure, is a simple three step process that creates a bib like velcro sandwich. Meaning the closure mechanism is entirely protected therefore reducing the risk of horses getting caught on hay nets, fences and the likes.

I'm unsure which size to choose. What should I do?

We know the feeling. Horses, humans and dogs are all individuals so we appreciate it can be difficult to know which size is best.

Wherever possible, the best solution is to measure and compare to our various product size charts. That said, if you're at all unsure please reach out to our friendly team. We're more than happy to advise you!
