Keeping up with Kenya: The adventure begins!

Ready or not: here they come!

Join us as our very own LE Ambassador Kenya Wilson embarks on the journey of lifetime with her trusty steed, Sandros Salute MW.

We can’t wait to follow the ups and downs and all aspects of this globetrotting adventure and we thought surely others are interested in following along too. Thus, Keeping Up with Kenya was born. In this first instalment we catch you up on what has been happening of late plus a very quick insight into what's to come!

For those of you who don’t know, Kenya Wilson is an FEI 5* event rider based in Gidgegannup, Western Australia. By day Kenya is a school teacher, by weekend she is a passionate competitor in the sport of eventing. Based on their performances over recent seasons, Kenya and Sandros have been selected on the Australian long list for the upcoming Paris Olympics. After a busy few months preparing and clocking up many miles navigating their way across the country, they're now on their way!

But first, they've been everywhere including Timbuktu. We're joking of course, but it sure does feel like they've been almost everywhere and experienced all weather conditions! Kenya and Sandros commenced their trip across the Nullarbor in February, trading relentless heatwaves in Western Australia for rain and lots of it as they made their way across the country to Kenya's second home, the Tinney family.

Shortly after arriving it was time for a quick trip to Hastings, New Zealand as part of the winning Senior Oceania Championships team. After arriving back in Australia final preparations were complete and they're now both safely on their way to the UK. Kenya has a small head start and will meet Sandros on arrival at fellow Australian, Sammi Birch's yard.

We’ll endeavour to keep you up with the latest happenings as Kenya and Sandros look to compete across the UK and Europe in a bid to put their hands firmly in the air and say 'pick me' to the selectors for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Let’s see how they get on. Nothing gained, nothing ventured and here at LE we can certainly say we’re proud of them no matter the outcome!

The journey commences!

In late February Kenya and Sandros commenced the long trip across the country from the place they call home, Western Australia. They have an action packed few months ahead of them as they rack up many miles as they start off on the journey of a lifetime!

A quick trip to New Zealand

After safely navigating their way across the country Sandros, Kenya and super groom Zoe Hutchinson enjoyed a quick trip to Hastings, NZ as part of the Senior Oceania Australian Team at the Horse of the Year Show.

A great hit out as the senior team came away with a win while Kenya and Sandros placed 6th individually in the 4*. Back to Australia for final preparations!

Ready or not, here they come!

We're pretty sure Sandros might like to think he's capable enough to pack his own bags...but we've got it on pretty good authority Kenya had her work cut out for her playing Tetris. It's no small feet to pack all items they may need and stay within allowances!

Up Up & Away

After a huge and very busy few months of preparations on April 10th it was time for Kenya and Sandros to depart Australia and commence their trip. They'll re unite at fellow Australian, Sammi Birch's yard in the UK.
